Coconut Silk Palm Trees

Silk trees not only look real but help bring nature indoors without the hassles of having to care for them. Artificial palm trees like this have polyester fabric leaves and molded stems that are attached to a natural trunk for a more realistic appearance. They generally last two to five years (slightly longer with quarterly upkeep) and are recommended for high traffic areas.

Show Off Those Coconuts

The term coconut refers to the fruit of the coconut palm. It's the only species in the Genus Cocos, and (the live version) can grow to be quite a large palm with pinnate leaves and pinnae. The artificial, or silk palm tree can often be found featuring silk-screened foliage for a life-like look, has a natural trunk, about a dozen fronds, a couple hundred leaves, and two coconuts.

All in the Trunk

The trunks on live coconut trees vary in shape, so the silk versions do, too. You can find silk palm trees with a single straight trunk, a single curved trunk, and a curved double trunk. If you're looking for a silk plant that's 6-8 feet in length or 8 feet or taller, be prepared to have to do some assembly yourself. Due to shipping requirements, larger plants must be sent in two parts. But they are designed to be securely assembled. This very easy process might entail simply placing the artificial palm head onto the trunk. Instructions should be included, if this is indeed the case.
