What's in a Name?

There are many with familiar names such as bamboo, bird of paradise, and coconut. There are some that may sound familiar as in banana, fan, and phoenix. And then there are several that many not be so familiar, like the areca, cycas or heliconia & not to mention the sag and traveller among many other types. No matter which type of plant you choose, a few things remain the same. For instance, each palm is constructed with polyester fabric leaves and molded stems that are attached to a natural trunk for a more realistic appearance. The plants generally last from two to five years and are recommended for high-traffic areas. Many silk trees come standard but vary in shape, height, trunk type and leaf type, and you'll notice that costs tend to rise with the size of plant and/or leaf count.

Keep it Indoors

Many silk palm trees are constructed of waterproof materials, such as polyester and plastic, and can be used in covered outdoor areas for a short amount of time. But long-term exposure to the sun's UV rays can cause damage to the color as well as to the stems, and high winds may cause palm trees to lose their leaves. Long story short? If in doubt, bring it inside. And enjoy the luxury of your silk palm tree no matter what type you choose for a long time to come.
